'In A Quiet Room' Nominated for 'Best Drama' by Austin Short Film Festival!

"In A Quiet Room" has been nominated for "Best Drama" by the 2025 Austin Short Film Festival!


"The performances are truly outstanding—each actor fully embodies their role, contributing to a deeply engaging and emotional viewing experience.," a festival judge said.


Another judge commented, "Karen Carlson delivers a standout performance as the lead, bringing emotional depth and authenticity for her character, which anchors the film and elevates the entire production."


The judge also noted that the film "demonstrates a high level of technical craftsmanship across the board. The score complements the emotional beats of the narrative, while both the sound editing and scenes editing are executed with precision, allowing for smooth and impactful scene transitions that maintain a strong narrative flow."


Festival judges also praised the film's writing and dialogue for authenticity and emotional depth.


Award winners will be announced at the conclusion of the festival, which takes place Oct. 25 at Southwest Theaters Lake Creek 7 in Austin, Texas. Tickets for the festival can be purchase here.


To date, "In A Quiet Room" has won four awards and garnered three additional nominations on its festival tour.


Lead actor Karen Carlson won "Best Lead Performance" at the North Carolina Film Festival in August after picking up a "Best Actor" award at the Georgia Shorts Film Festival last year. Writer/director James Faucett also won 'Best Georgia Filmmaker at the Broad Street Film Festival in March, and the film was awarded "Best Narrative Short" at the St. Auggie Shorts Film Festival in February.
