Karen Carlson has won “Best Lead Performance” for her role in “In A Quiet Room” at the 2025 North Carolina Film Festival!

The win marks her second in the film's festival run.

"It's always an honor to have one's skills acknowledged by others, but, in my opinion, the expression of visual art in the form of film takes a team to achieve," Carlson said. "This is truly a recognition of how well we performed as a team, so kudos to James Faucett and the team he built. We're all honored with this recognition."

Award winners were announced at the conclusion of the festival on August 2 in New Bern, NC. The event was the film’s North Carolina premiere.

"During production, Karen amazed all of us with her hard work and dedication," director James Faucett said. "I sincerely thank festival organizers for acknowledging her talent and her incredible performance in this role."

"In A Quiet Room" has won four awards and garnered three additional nominations in its festival run. Writer/director James Faucett won 'Best Georgia Filmmaker at the Broad Street Film Festival in March, the film won "Best Narrative Short" at the St. Auggie Shorts Film Festival in February, and Carlson picked up a "Best Actor" win at the Georgia Shorts Film Festival last year.

The IAQR Team thanks the North Carolina Film Festival for recognizing Carlson's outstanding work!
